The three holding companies behind Trio Impact Invest – SU Holding, KI Holding, and KTH Ventures – are central pillars of the Swedish innovation ecosystem, particularly within deeptech. With over 25 years of experience, they have built unique knowledge and strong structural capital around the environment where early-stage innovations emerge. Through large idea flows, access to academic experts, industrial collaborations, and research infrastructures, they have developed a proven ability to identify, evaluate, and support deep tech companies.

Together, the holding companies invest in around 15 new companies each year and actively manage approximately 100 portfolio holdings. Over the years, they have invested in more than 200 companies, primarily in the early establishment phase, through an evergreen structure with a long-term perspective that has historically generated strong value growth on invested capital. Trio Impact Invest builds on this proven model and experience – now extending its reach to deep tech companies emerging beyond the academic sphere.

At the center of this ecosystem stands Stockholm Trio – Karolinska Institutet, KTH, and Stockholm University – driving groundbreaking research, attracting talent, and fostering the emergence of technologies with global potential.

This is also the background of Trio Impact Invest. For a long time, the university holding companies have identified a clear capital gap for early-stage, research-intensive companies – firms with great potential but that often require more time, capital, and expertise than the traditional capital market can provide. Trio Impact Invest was created to fill this gap and accelerate the next generation of deep tech companies from Stockholm.
